Presenting from your personal device

While all classrooms have a PC connected to the projection equipment, users may also wish to present from their own device. HDMI connections exist in all classrooms, so your device will need to output to HDMI in order to connect to the classroom equipment.

Protecting your personal device

Nothing will totally protect a device from a huge drop or from a pile of heavy books being dropped on it, but having a case to carry your device in will provide some protection. We suggest a soft, yet waterproof, case that can fit in your backpack. There are many backpacks these days with laptop compartments in them, but not all of them are waterproof.

Keyboards for your personal device

Most of the recommended devices have keyboards so that users will experience less fatigue when writing for extended periods of time.  Attached keyboards are the best, as they won't need to be charged and they don't need to be connected to the device, but any keyboard is better than no keyboard.

Additional Storage

The minimum specifications for storage should be enough to last students for four years.  Most of the work will be stored in the district instance of Google Apps for Education.  However, if a student wants to store a lot of non-school related files, multimedia files, or raw video files, then additional storage may be needed.  Additional storage can include a larger hard drive as part of the original purchase, flash drives, or external hard drives.
